Tank Manager for Process Manufacturing is an add-on application to Oracle Process Manufacturing that provides a simple and inexpensive way to automate measurement, calculation, and data collection for both Process Execution and Inventory.
The application allows customers to deploy Oracle Process Manufacturing quickly, without the need for complicated recipes, expensive sensors or plant control systems.
OPM Challenges
OPM requires careful definition of measurements of inputs and outputs for each ingredient of every batch. If sensors and measurement are in place across the plant, this is not a problem, but many plants have processes that cannot justify the added expense of installing these sensors. Here, simple measurements of input, output, and lab results may be all that is needed.
Tank Manager allows customers to “back into” these measurements by installing their own formulas to do so. Also, recipes can be simplified into their total ingredients, product, and by-products.
In some installations, production is simply the difference between today’s and the previous day’s inventory. Tank Manager supports these measurements by accounting for differences between inventory, shipments, and production. These differences may be used in the calculations of every batch.
       
Fast Deployment
With Tank Manager, there are no additional servers to buy or software to license. Tank Manager installs directly into the Oracle E-Business Suite and utilizes the application’s own user/responsibility access model.
Integration with OPM, Inventory, Purchasing, and Order Management is accomplished via published, open interfaces.
Simplified Data Collection
Tank Manager provides a simple and familiar self service web interface to personnel that is much easier than the Process Manufacturing forms. This interface can be optimized for any web capable mobile device allowing mobile data collection.
Plant operators need only access to a web browser. They record tank contents and other measurements as simple readings without the need to perform conversion calculations.
For customers utilizing Tank Management Systems, Tank Farms, remote level sensors, and data loggers, Tank Manager can consolidate your readings, perform calculations and interface values into OPM.
Flexible Measurement and Calculation
At any time, a new tank , measurement, or lab calculation may be added or removed without custom programming.
Tanks are defined easily and simple algebra is used to convert tank readings into tank contents. Any unit of measure defined in OPM is supported.
For example, a tank reading in inches plus an acid content in percent is used to derive the actual tank contents in dry tons.
Calculations are also defined with simple algebra. Occasionally, calculated values may need to be adjusted. Any calculation in Tank Manger can be flagged as adjustable. The original calculated value and adjustment value is kept for auditing at a later time.
Approval Capture
Once measurements are finalized, reviewed, and adjusted, the approval chain is captured in Tank Manager. Once approved, the measurements are frozen and cannot be modified.
Tight Integration
Period production batches are generated and reviewed in Tank Manger before interfacing directly into Oracle Process Manufacturing. Once interfaced, the batches and API logs are kept for later review or audit.
Enhanced Reporting
Without the expense of implementing Oracle Business Intelligence, Tank Manger can give you management and executive level reporting that correlates Inventory, Production, Purchasing, and Order Management into a single dashboard.
Tank manager does this without the added expense of Oracle Reports or BI Discoverer.
